In addition to more than 30 local tech companies that are hiring (expect a full list next week), NET/WORK will feature a series of Dev Talks and professional development opportunities throughout the day, including the following:

  • Discussion lead by Chris Conley of Monetate (and the cofounder of legendary iSEPTA.org) on recent engineering challenges
  • Workshop on jQuery solutions to responsive design challenges with Cat Farman of Happy Cog.
  • Jearvon Dharrie, developer at Prompt Works and the Philly.rb Meetup organizer will present on the benefits of a JRuby stack.
  • Event partner Campus Philly will lead professional development workshops in the “Expert Hub.”
  • A professional headshot photo booth sponsored by mobile dev firm Chariot Solutions.
  • A coworking cafe with Hubbub coffee sponsored by lead generation firm 50onRed.
  • A closing happy hour sponsored by business analytics firm Monetate.
  • Additional perks include a one-on-one resume review and tips on salary negotiation, interviewing and networking.

1PM: Doors open! Meet with employers, get a free headshot taken, and grab a free cup of Hubbub coffee in our Coworking Cafe.

2PM:

– Dev Talk: Chris Conley of Monetate, will lead a discussion highlighting the latest engineering challenges they’ve worked through over the past 12 months.

– In the Expert Hub: Drop in for a resume workshop. Drop your resume off early & get a 1-on-1 resume review with a local expert.

3PM:

-Dev Talk: Real World Responsive jQuery with Cat Farman, front-end developer at Happy Cog. Developing responsive websites has become a core service for web design agencies, but presents a challenge in delivering nimble, lean websites that are beautiful, usable and functional at every screen size. Cat will share real-world jQuery solutions she uses in her work at Happy Cog. This talk is suitable for beginners and intermediate front-end developers and designers interested in jQuery solutions to common responsive design challenges.

– In the Expert Hub: Learn how to nail your next interview.

4PM:  -Dev Talk: JRuby! with Jearvon Dharrie, developer at Prompt Works & Philly.rb Meetup organizer. Jearvon will present on the benefits of a JRuby stack. He will discuss getting started and recount his experience using it.

– In the Expert Hub: Get tips on negotiating compensation.

5PM: Happy hour! The bar opens & snacks come out.

– In the Expert Hub: Learn to “talk the talk” at Networking 101.

7PM: Thanks for coming!
