There’s a meetup group called First State .Net, and on Tuesday, they’re meeting to learn about Project Oxford.
First: Who’s First State .Net?

  • It’s a group of developers and IT professionals that meets to learn and talk about the Microsoft .NET framework and related technologies, according to the group’s meetup page. Software engineer Miguel Zakharia from Apex Development Group and IT enthusiasts Mike Wilkins and Michael Rosenheim are the group’s founders.

Second: What’s Project Oxford?

  • It’s “an evolving portfolio of REST APIs and SDKs enabling developers to easily add intelligent services into their solutions to leverage the power of Microsoft’s natural data understanding,” the event description says.

Amanda Lange, a “technical evangelist” for Microsoft, will present at Tuesday’s meetup, which is at 6:30 p.m. at 1313 Innovation. She’s from Downington, Pa., and specializes in app and game development and cloud computing.
Her talk will cover the vision, speech and language-driven apps you can use for including cloud-enabled intelligence in your own apps.
