Tucked away on Market Street in Georgetown, Del., is a little house with a modest sign on the front lawn.
Inside, however, not-so-little things are happening.
Welcome to to the offices of Drupal dev shop Inclind.
“It’s a quiet little space,” founder Shaun Tyndall said of the office, where his business has been located since 2006.
Business offices in what would otherwise be residential homes is not uncommon in Georgetown — a drive through town would reveal that’s actually how most small businesses operate there.
The building Inclind dwells in was built in the 1950s, but the interior is nothing short of modern. That cool Inclind shade of red is literally everywhere — on the walls, rugs, chairs, even down to the decor. While what would usually be considered the “living room” has been converted to a conference space, upstairs is where the actual development happens.
There are no “assigned seats” per se, but Tyndall said his devs like to “seal their space” by slyly placing pictures of family at their favorite spots.
Speaking of seals, what’s up with the one Inclind has adopted as its mascot?
“It’s a tie to the local community,” said Tyndall. That’s because seals are known to sun bathe on the local beaches. And given seals’ tendency to clap, the mascot also falls in nicely with Inclind’s “More High Fives” slogan.
“Whether it’s our client or our staff, we want to be giving high fives out,” said Tyndall. “We want our work to be high-five worthy.”
Inclind will be a silver-level sponsor at Drupal GovCon in D.C. next week.
