Once the holidays are over, Girl Develop It’s Wilmington chapter is jumping headfirst into 2016 with an intro to HTML and CSS coding weekend.
The women’s bootcamp is Jan. 9-10 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at 1313 Innovation. Participants will learn the basics of making and styling a website, said GDI co-leader Joni Trythall.

The instructor for the weekend will be Alex Lash, a Philadelphia designer and front-end developer.
“I saw her speak at a conference and I knew right away she’d make a great teacher,” Trythall said.
Unsure if you should take the class? Trythall said she gets that question a lot. She wants women to know that the knowledge gained from these classes can be empowering, whether you’re interested in becoming a professional developer or want to know how to improve a blog.
“You’ll get the confidence and skills you need to make changes to a company blog, for example,” she said. “This is great for people who have personal projects and blogs but they don’t exactly know how to customize them as far as stylizing.”
If you go, you’ll need a laptop with either Google Chrome and the Web Developer extension or Firefox and Firebug installed. You’ll also need a text editor — organizers recommend Sublime Text 3 or Atom.
The cost for the weekend is $80.
