This Saturday: Help DuckDuckGo make ‘instant answers’ for stuff you care about

The “Quack & Hack” runs from 12-3 p.m. at Benjamin's Desk.

Join the DuckDuckGo team to build new “instant answers” this Saturday.
Here’s an example of an instant answer on the privacy-minded search engine: Who’s in space? (Answer: An American and two Russians.)
(DuckDuckGo’s Zac Pappis built this Wu-Tang cheat sheet last week. (Editor’s note: Having to click “Show More” to see Ghostface Killah is a travesty.))
The “Quack & Hack” will be from 12-3 p.m. at Benjamin’s Desk.

This isn’t a hackathon, Pappis said, because it’s not a competition. You’ll be working to add features to an open source project that millions of people use every day. The Paoli-based company hit 10 million users a day last month.

This could also be a cool opportunity to do social justice-style hacking by adding cheat sheets and instant answers that relate to topics you care about and feel are not part of the mainstream narrative — the way that Bryn Mawr College and others have done Wikipedia edit-a-thons to create entries on women’s history.
