In March we brought you the opportunity to hack the Pentagon (for a bug bounty program, of course). Now, here’s another security-minded opportunity to break out your code — this hackathon challenges you to develop an app that will “safeguard the American people, our homeland and our values from all threats.”
On Sept. 23 and 24 Geocent, a tech and engineering solutions company with offices in McLean, Va., will be hosting a hackathon called “Defending the Homeland.”
The hackathon centers around Department of Homeland Security interests, like terrorism prevention and cybersecurity. All solutions must run on an iPhone or Android device, but beyond that, attendees are just encouraged to think creatively. There’s $1,000 in cash on the line for the first-place team — incentive to create some novel defense tech.
