OpenForge CEO Jedidiah Weller has been busy since we last talked in August 2020.

His company is currently in the process of forming a parent holding called OpenForge Enterprises and also has plans to do a fundraising round for Startup Wars, its video game designed to teach users — primarily university students and professors — entrepreneurial principles.

Startup Wars finished its second alpha in spring 2021 and 828 students to date have used this game to learn entrepreneurship, he said. In addition, 107 professors have signed up to evaluate the game in fall 2021, when Waller expects the game to go live.

“Game development is difficult, however we finally finished our core-game loop which was a big milestone,” he told Technical.ly. “We went through about a thousand iterations until the students finally said they love it.”

Over the next six months, Weller said OpenForge will focus on developing the platform further by including the ability for professors to create their own content and simulations, and providing students with a platform to track learning objectives, give guidance and feedback.

As it continues to refine its Startup Wars game, OpenForge is looking for someone to fill its Angular developer role. The person in the role will be expected to complete these and other core tasks, per the company’s language:

  • Provide software development services including new feature development, architecture diagrams, unit and E2E tests, and bug fixes
  • Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits
  • Collaborate with other software developers, designers, front end developers, and project manager to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain web and mobile applications utilizing the latest technologies

Have experience with MEAN stack applications, Typescript, JavaScript and NodeJS, too? See the full job description here.

P.S. Happy anniversary, OpenForge:
