Code workshop for beginners to be held April 24-26

Now’s your chance.
Multiple groups in Wilmington are coming together this spring to host “Introduction to Web Development,” a weekend course aimed at teaching beginners HTML, CSS and Bootstrap, from April 24-26.
The course is for non-programmers, entrepreneurs, managers and business students. Participants will build a website from scratch, learning the essentials of HTML and CSS programming languages along the way.
Tickets are $99 for full weekend access, including meals from Friday evening to Sunday evening. Participants should bring their own laptop and power cord.

The event is a collaboration between Start It Up Delaware, Jeff Cohen of GoLearnToCode.com, 1313 Innovation, Tech Impact and Zip Code Wilmington, a code academy in the works to open this fall.
“We’re continuing our grassroots educational efforts that we’re passionate about and raising awareness about the code school coming down the pipeline,” said Mona Parikh of the Archer Group.
Zip Code Wilmington is the brainchild of local business leaders and philanthropists. Ben DuPont, Jim Stewart and Porter Schutt are working with Patrick Callihan, executive director of Tech Impact, to get the organization up-and-running in six months.
“We’re certainly trying to generate an interest in an accelerated coding program. [Introduction to Web Development] highlights that,” said Callihan. “It’s built for people with no coding experience. We see this in the future with Zip Code in the fall.”
