Running out of activities for the kids as we head into the last month of summer?
A five-day pop-up day camp called Code Differently is coming to the Barnes & Noble in Christiana Mall Aug. 20–24, combining coding and project-based learning for students heading into 5th through 8th grade.
RegisterThe camp will focus on the programming language Python, with campers building interactive artificial intelligence personal assistants (you read that right: 10–13 year olds will be coding AI for summer fun).
The lead instructor will be Tariq Hook, founding director of education at Zip Code Wilmington, along with other instructors who will work closely with the campers.
Daily “brain break” excursions will take the kids into the wilds of the mall for things like organized activities at the Microsoft Store and restaurant tours. The week will end with a pizza party to show off campers’ creations.
There are no prerequisites for camp attendance; kids will receive instruction based on their level and ability. In addition to Python, campers will work with circuits, motors and Raspberry Pi.
Cost of the camp is $395. Check out this short DeTv clip with Code Differently cofounder Stephanie Eldridge for a discount code to receive 10 percent off:
