With its platform for fitness classes, BurnAlong is looking to help people keep the benefits of exercising with other people while working out wherever they are.
CEO Daniel Freedman told us in December about how the Owings Mills–based startup is aiming to provide that motivational lift by linking people to classes via video.
“We’re social beings, so the more connected you are to your friends, the more motivated you’re going to be,” Freedman said last week.
A new feature provides a way to keep track of the data behind that time spent working out with a group.
The platform can now integrate with fitness wearables. By connecting the wearables with BurnAlong’s dashboard, users can track their own data and compare it with others.
Along with looking at performance during a workout, it adds a way to track calories, steps and more.
“Anything we can do to help people achieve their goals makes a massive difference,” Freedman said.
Development was handled inside the startup’s eight-employee team. The integration is currently available for Fitbit, iHealth, Withings, Garmin and Jawbone. Freedman said they could add more in the future.
