5 things we learned at the 2018 Delaware Super Meetup

This year's Delaware Super Meetup brought tech Meetup groups together for one big event.

Ten Meetup groups, two and a half hours, and over 130 local tech folks and entrepreneurs made this year’s Delaware Super Meetup a blast.

As is the trend lately, weather moved the festivities indoors at the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce on the Riverfront, allowing for air-conditioned mingling, introducing and general networking over drinks and light snacks.

While it was a laid-back affair, connections were made left and right. There was also free swag for all (The best? BlackRock’s classy faux leather smartphone card holder with built-in stand).

What did we learn? More than I could fit in one post. But here are a few highlights/TILs:

Zip Code Wilmington’s cohort 9 is super photogenic.

The Olatunji twins are rising.

You’re probably familiar with Miracle Olatunji, the teen entrepreneur and founder of OpportuniMe, and occasional Technical.ly contributor.

Now, as she moves on to Northeastern University in Boston, it’s time for the younger Olatunji sisters, Deborah and Dorca, Class of 2020, to shine. You’ll be hearing more about these two and their entrepreneurial and tech projects soon.

Speaking of women in tech, Delaware has no shortage of them.

From Girl Develop It’s Jocelyn Harper to Women In Digital Philly VP Collie Turner, and many more.

Tweet-length speeches (old school 140 characters) are harder to do than they sound.

…but the rule itself keeps them tight.

The nonprofit scene is strong.

Many of our Super Meetup partners represent the most influential tech nonprofits operating in the state, including Coded by Kids, Barrel of Makers, and Girl Develop It.

Till next year!
