Today’s ‘pitch the press’ workshop is postponed. Here’s when to catch the redo

Mark your calendars (again): “Pitch the Press to Tell Your Story,” presented by Technical.ly Delaware Lead Reporter Holly Quinn (hi!), has been rescheduled due to snow.

The new date is April 3 from noon to 1 p.m. The presentation and Q&A will be held in person at Wilmington Public Library’s Innovation Space, with a live simulcast to the Bear, Dover, Georgetown and Milton Libraries.

The presentation covers the basics of approaching the press with a story idea, with a focus on story pitches from entrepreneurs. You’ll learn tips on getting a response, general etiquette and what to expect if your pitch is accepted.

This is not a workshop on how to create a press release, but how to communicate directly to individual reporters.

Time permitting, entrepreneurs may give quick story pitches after the Q&A — and if you don’t get a chance to do it in person, you’ll have learned how to send an effective pitch via email.

It’s all a part of February’s Small Business Assistance Workshops, which are geared to companies in the startup and growth stages.
