There comes a time in every young startup’s existence when the moment is ripe to tell your story to the media. But how do you identify this moment? And then what do you do once you have?
Before you start panicking — yes, these are challenging questions to answer. That’s why 15th Street-based incubator 1776 is throwing a class on public relations.
The class, which is open to members as well as the public, will cover the big questions like:

  • What is it like to give my story to a reporter and how should I prepare?
  • What is the news publication process like?
  • What milestones should I hit before I reach out?

To discuss these questions 1776 will convene a panel of local journalists including Aaron Gregg, a reporter at the Washington PostTina Reed, a reporter at the Washington Business Journal; and Tony Romm, a reporter at Politico. Erin McPike, 1776 communications director and former CNN correspondent, will host.
The event is the first in a series, organizers say, but the rest will be for members only. Ready to learn more about ~the media~? RSVP here.
