Are you ready for Dev Conference?

Two weeks ago, we introduced some of the experts and thought leaders you can expect to hear from at the annual developer-focused conference, this year happening during Philly Tech Week 2019 presented by Comcast on May 8 at the Drexel University LeBow College of Business.

Now, we’re here for a quick update and some words from a few of the speakers about why they’re excited to partake in the event.

First off, we have a panel to cap off the day of programming and talks regarding all things tech. Technical.ly Philly reporter Roberto Torres will be hosting a panel on “How to Succeed on a Virtual Team” (a timely piece of programming considering our fearless reporter is soon leaving us to pursue work in a remote role himself!).

The panel will feature local founders and other members of remote teams as they discuss strategies for building and sustaining a remote team, optimizing workflow across time zones, and even how to navigate your career toward a future remote position.

Our panelists:

Now, let’s get to a few of our speakers and why they’re excited to be a part of this event.

  • Brian O’Neill, CTO at Monetate — “I love the Philly Tech Week Dev Conference. It’s an opportunity for me to drink from the firehose, and learn about topics that I haven’t had time to explore on my own. Often, the tidbits I take away become the seeds for innovation throughout the year. I encourage my entire team to attend to round out their skills and improve their value in the market. ML and AI are hot right now. Hopefully, I can do that same for the attendees in my session.”
  • Howie Ross, director of engineering at Linode — “After years of attending the PTW Dev Conference and coming away with insightful takeaways that I’ve been able to apply to my own work, I’m very excited to share what I’ve learned about how to increase the flow of work towards your goals and give your customers (and bosses) what they really want; fewer bugs and more features released faster.”
  • Tim Wenhold, partner and chief innovation officer at Power Home Remodeling — “As technology people we’re smart, we’re in demand, and we know it. But how do we make sure we’re using our skills for the highest and best purpose? I’m excited to start a dialogue about how to get paid well, build a professional legacy, and build personal happiness.”
  • Abha Kumar, principal and global IT executive at Vanguard — “I am really excited to be speaking at Philly Tech Week because the future is all about technology and innovation. It is a subject I care deeply about and I am excited to meet so many future leaders that will certainly change the world.”
  • Jon Hollander, head of information management at TD Bank — “Incorporating open source in a highly regulated industry and leveraging it in production at scale isn’t as straightforward as it seems. I look forward to having an open discussion about how TD Bank has leveraged open source as part of our data ecosystem to enable advanced analytics at enterprise scale.”

If this doesn’t excite you enough, we’re hoping our list of exhibitors on the showroom floor will get your blood pumping to discuss writing brilliant code and sharing ideas.

Thank you to all of our #DevConf19 sponsors!
