The first wall of defense against cyber attacks on United States data centers is now right here in the First State.
According to a report from Delaware Public Media, the University of Delaware just won a Department of Homeland Security contract to prevent distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks on data centers.
Last year, UD brought in cybersecurity veteran Starnes Walker to lead its cybersecurity initiative.
“I’m here to catalyze the capability of the university to better empower the nation’s industry and major industrial sectors, and then working with our current programs and future programs to support government and military,” Walker said at the time.
UD’s $1.9 million plan will allow data center operators to better identify symptoms of cyber attacks.
