Marc Chaikin wants to use technology to level the playing field that is the stock market.

With his Philadelphia-based company, Chaikin Stock Research, he’s produced a number of stock analysis tools that he hopes can give investors information previously only available to Wall Street professionals. These tools include apps, a desktop widget and now, Portfolio Health Check, or what he calls a “virtual watchdog” for your stocks.

Portfolio Health Check is a new weekly analytics report for your stock portfolio. The report promises to provide stock projections, letting you know how your stocks will look in 3-6 months, and recommendations for what your next moves should be.

Chaikin, 69, founded Chaikin Stock Research in 2009 after almost 40 years on Wall Street. The business makes money through subscriptions to its services, as well as transactions with brokerage partners and wholesale research, says product manager Jennifer Cohen.

The team now consists of seven full-time employees and a handful of contractors, Cohen says. Its office is in that blurry spot between Society Hill and Queen Village, which is also the neighborhood in which Chaikin lives.
