The state awarded five life sciences companies $200,000 apiece through the BioMaryland Center, a division within the state Department of Business and Economic Development.
MDBizNews reports:

The companies, which received up to $200,000 each, will use the funding to advance the early detection of Alzheimer’s disease, create a less-invasive treatment for tachycardia patients, enhance animal analgesics, control traumatic bleeds and develop high-quality gluten and allergen-free kosher food products.

Companies receiving awards this round include:

  • Baltimore-based Animalgesic Labs, which is manufacturing its first batch of FDA authorized pain medication
  • Baltimore-based Cardiosolv, which is undertaking a study to create a less-invasive treatment for tachycardia patients.
  • Rockville-based Adlyfe, which is commercializing technologies for the early detection of Alzheimer’s disease
  • Columbia-based CrispTek, which is developing and marketing three new certified gluten and allergen-free baking mixes
  • College Park-based Remedium Technologies, which is working on advancing its Hemogrip TM, a proprietary lifesaving technology to stop traumatic bleeding.
