American Certified wants to make it easier for you to buy American-made products.
Founded by Marvin Weinberger, best known as cofounder dot-com era tech company Infonautics with then-Wharton student Josh Kopelman, the newly-launched American Certified offers a selection of 1.5 million American-made products, including electronics, beauty products and homewares.
ShopThe e-retailer is an Amazon associates store, which means Amazon gets an 8.5 percent commission on every item purchased, and also handles the billing and customer service. The company uses Amazon product descriptions to determine if a product is made in the U.S. and plans to offer free certification to manufacturers.
Weinberger, 59, leads a team of six full-time employees, based at Callowhill coworking space Venturef0rth.
