A cyber firm’s new anti-ransomware tool

Adlumin, a DC-based cybersecurity company, released a new product aimed to stop and prevent file encryption.

CEO and cofounder Robert Johnston said that he saw a failure in the industry when it comes to protecting files from ransomware attacks. It’s often the case that by the time the threat is detected, a majority of files are destroyed. Speed, and the methodologies used to stop the attack, matter.

“Recovery from ransomware is a lot easier when nothing important got encrypted,” he said. “That’s our slogan.”

‘Shark Tank’ features local entrepreneur

Dawn Myers, the winner of the 2023 Technical.ly Awards Invention of The Year, is having a primetime moment on Friday. She will be featured on an episode of “Shark Tank” with her product, The Mint.

Myers, a former DC-area resident now living in Baltimore, has watched the show for years. And now, she’s having a full circle moment.

“I am in pure celebratory mode,” Myers told Technical.ly.
