Day to Day

Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) at Indeed work directly with our product teams, working closely with them to design, code, test, run, and evolve the systems that help people around the world get jobs. We work closely with dozens of Indeed teams to drive the adoption of modern reliability practices like Service Level Objectives (SLOs), error budget policies, actionable alerts, follow-the-sun on-call, incident retrospectives, chaos testing, and end-to-end ownership.

This role focuses on Indeed’s AI Platform, where we fine-tune LLM models, build ML models, and serve them using Indeed platform and 3rd-party services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) SageMaker, Bedrock, and OpenAI. As an SRE working with Indeed’s AI Platform teams, you will be an integral part of ensuring the platform is built to be highly scalable, resilient, and maintainable, capable of powering a constantly growing set of matching use cases.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, ship, and motivate the creation of scalable software and systems to increase product reliability and organizational efficiency.
Guide reliability practices through the entire software development lifecycle through activities like architecture reviews, code reviews, creating platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and chaos testing.
Maintain service health through monitoring, follow-the-sun incident response and promoting stability best practices to platform users.
Improve service reliability through blameless post-incident reviews and using code to prevent or respond to problem recurrence.
Collaborate with Engineering teams to balance cloud cost optimization with delivering a high degree of system reliability.

Skills/Competencies

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
2+ years of software development experience.
Experience writing code in Python, Node.js, Java, Go or a similar language.
Ability to debug, optimize code, and automate routine tasks.
Proficiency with cloud platforms and tools, specifically Amazon Web Services (AWS) AI services.
Experience scaling efficiently ML model training or LLM workload preferably in AWS SageMaker.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions like Terraform or AWS CDK.

Austin Metro Area $127,000 - 183,000 USD

New York City Metro Area $159,000 - 231,000 USD

Seattle Metro Area $158,000 - 230,000 USD

San Francisco Metro Area $168,000 - 244,000 USD

Salary Range Disclaimer

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees.
