The Falls Church-based nonprofit professional organization Women in Technology is sponsoring a new Meetup group — this one specifically for young professional women in tech. The Women in Technology Young Professional Special Interest Group (WiT YP SIG. Yeah.) “is for any women who values professional development, as well a social life.”
The group is gearing up to host its first panel discussion on Oct. 27 — a panel that aims to instill in women of non-traditional backgrounds that there is a path forward in the tech industry. Non-traditional panelists include Ryann Robinson from Uber, Tiffany Li from General Assembly, Valerie Woolard from Panoply and Gabriella Ziccarelli, a D.C.-based intellectual property lawyer.
“Our panelists will highlight nontraditional tech backgrounds of all kinds: education, experience, discipline, ethnicity, sex, etc and talk about how to overcome perceived limitations associated with each and empower attendees to pursue tech by sharing their success stories,” organizers write.
The event will take place at WeWork on K Street. You can check out the group, and RSVP to upcoming meetups, below:
