Falls Church, Virginia-based Women in Technology is seeking additional applicants for its Mentor-Protégé program.
Women in Technology is not to be confused with the D.C. chapter of the Women in Tech media campaign, though it’s similar in mission: This nonprofit supports women technologists in the D.C. community of all career levels through leadership development, tech education, networking events and mentoring opportunities.
The objective of the five-month program is to promote career and personal growth and is designed for women who are young professionals, transitioning careers or reentering the tech workforce. The program accepts 25 mentees, and candidates are accepted on a first-come-first-served basis.
Each monthly session includes a networking portion to start, a guest speaker or presentation, and one-on-one mentoring time. During each session, mentees will have a chance to interact with different mentors to get as much insight as possible. Aside from seeking more mentees to join the program, Women in Technology is also looking to expand its network of mentors to have a larger talent pool to match with participants.
The program’s orientation is set for Sept. 10 and sessions run through January 2020.
