Out of 59 School District teachers that won a Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award earlier this month, at least ten teachers honored were STEM teachers or were praised for their use of technology in the classroom, according to nominating information for the award.
Teaching Award recipients won $3,500, the Philadelphia Public School Notebook reported. Find a full list of winners, plus information about them, on the Inquirer here.
The STEM teachers included:
- Central High School‘s physics teacher and robotics coach Daniel Ueda. Ueda has grown the RoboLancers, the school’s robotics team, from 15 to 92 in the last four years, and 35 percent of members are female, according to nominating information for the award. - Science Leadership Academy‘s science teacher Tim Best, who was praised for his use of technology in the classroom
- Abraham Lincoln High School‘s science department chair Paula Miller, who also co-chairs the Biotechnology and Health Related Technology Academy
- George Washington Carver High School of Engineering and Science‘s technology coordinator Lee Silverman
- Kensington – Creative and Performing Arts‘ teacher technology leader Joshua Kleiman
- Kensington – International, Business, Finance and Entrepreneurship‘s teacher technology leader and English teacher Nicholas L. Niedosik
- Philadelphia Military Academy at Leeds‘ social studies teacher Joshua Levinson, who was praised for his use of technology in the classroom
