Startup Crawl returns to Betamore

After taking last year off, the event that puts college students and tech companies in the same room was back in action last week. There are even plans to expand.

A week after its big announcement about the future, Betamore once again gathered the local tech community at its Federal Hill campus on Thursday evening for the return of Startup Crawl.
Almost 90 students registered from most of the major area colleges, including Johns Hopkins, UMD, Loyola, Goucher, UMBC, Morgan State and Towson.

The students had a chance to talk to edtech startups like Citelighter, Unbound Concepts, ClassTracks, eThink Education, as well as companies like Backroom, Eyemaginations, EnlightenIT and Artichoke.

“I loved the enthusiasm from everyone involved about encouraging talented college graduates to live, work, and play in Baltimore,” said Betamore Director of Education Michele Farquharson. “We had a diverse group of companies represented and I saw students eagerly making connections throughout the event.”
Going forward, Betamore plans to hold the event twice a year — in the spring and fall.
“We hope this will provide a pipeline for talent to discover the many reasons Baltimore is a great place to be,” Farquharson said.
