Junior League of Wilmington (JLW) has announced that it will host the fifth annual Women’s Leadership Summit on Feb. 22, along with sharing a shortlist of speakers representing leaders from organizations and businesses as varied as the United Way and Starbucks.
Dr. Brandi Baldwin, CEO of Millennial Ventures, a Philadelphia- and Charlotte, North Carolina-based organization that helps diverse leasers build startups, will deliver the keynote on the summit’s theme: “Together We Rise.”
Additional speakers will include:
- Stephanie Staats, CEO of Delaware YWCA, and Jessie Arrey-Mbi, Leadership & Service Award winner, on cultural intelligence and inclusive leadership
- Michelle Taylor, president and CEO of United Way Delaware, on supporting women in making a collective impact
- Krista Kondravy, VP of operations at Starbucks and JLW member, on developing a leader mindset
- Melanie Ross Levin, Delaware director of the Office of Women’s Advancement and Advocacy, on effective communication and negotiation for career advancement
The summit will take place at the Double Tree Wilmington on Concord Pike from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Ticket go on sale Nov. 15, with proceeds supporting JLW’s mission to train women to be leaders in the community, as well as its community impact initiative, Stand Up. Period. This initiative raises awareness about “period poverty,” defined as a lack of access to sanitary products due to a lack of financial stability and resources, which can cause people with menstrual cycles to miss school or work and make it difficult to become financially stable.
