Pro basketball player Rudy Gay is part of a new edtech initiative in his hometown.
Through a partnership with D.C.–based EVERFI, Gay’s Flight 22 Foundation is supporting entrepreneurship courses in Baltimore high schools. According to a news release, the Foundation is offering an interactive, web-based course designed to teach students to think entrepreneurially about business and life.”
The course teaches basic business skills through case studies, simulations and personal development activities. Fittingly, the course will be offered in 22 high schools.
“The Flight 22 Foundation is dedicated to providing quality entrepreneurial education to the students and families of in the communities we serve,” Gay said in a statement. “We know that our partnership with EVERFI will ensure we truly reach students and give them the skills to be our future leaders.”
Gay is a former Baltimore high school standout at Archbishop Spalding. He’s played in the NBA since 2006, and is set to suit up once again for the San Antonio Spurs next season.
The announcement comes just before the foundation hosts this weekend’s Rudy Gay Flight 22 Classic, which features a showcase of high school teams on August 18-19 at the Park School of Baltimore.
