Calling entrepreneurs and nonprofits: If you’ve received (or would like to receive) an economic incentive and want to make the best of it, this Feb. 26 talk is for you.
Hosted by UD’s Institute for Public Administration, it’s called Crafting Smart Incentives for Impact and Accountability, and it’ll feature three notables: Ken Poole, CEO of the Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness, and Ellen Harpel, founder of Smart Incentives, both of whom will be introduced by Bernice Whaley, cabinet secretary and director of the Delaware Economic Development Office.
Poole and Harpel will cover how to maximize economic outcomes with incentive money while remaining transparent.
Attendees will also learn:

  • Trends and innovative ways to implement government incentives
  • How to design effective and responsible incentive programs
  • How to do due diligence and figure out ROI for potential incentive offers
  • Lessons from high-profile incentive-based projects
  • How to track, evaluate and report outcomes from incentive programs

The event, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., is at Outlook at the Duncan Center in Dover, and the deadline to register is today. Registration costs $65, which includes lunch.
