Thomas Dolby, the 1980s musician behind “She Blinded Me With Science,” has been named the first Homewood Professor of the Arts at the Johns Hopkins University.
The position gives him a chance to help create a “Silicon Valley for the arts” in Baltimore, as Katherine S. Newman, dean of Hopkins’ Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, told the Baltimore Sun.
The “incubator for technology in the arts … will be housed in two projects [in Station North] totaling about $35 million and being jointly overseen by Hopkins, the Maryland Institute College of Art and the Maryland Film Festival.”
