Flocabulary reaches 500,000 Wisconsin students with “The Week In Rap”

The company inked a deal with a Wisconsin nonprofit that will make Flocabulary's video series, "The Week in Rap," available to students across the state.

When the school year starts again, students in Wisconsin will be keeping in rhythm with current events, literally.

A new deal between Dumbo’s Flocabulary and the Wisconsin Media Lab will give 507,383 students in grades 5-12 across the state access to the company’s program, “The Week in Rap,” according to Molly Cronin, a spokesperson for the company.

The Wisconsin lab curates multimedia educational materials that are made available to students across the state.

“Wisconsin educators have been asking for a current events program. The Week in Rap is spot-on,” said Kristin Leglar, content and outreach manager at Wisconsin Media Lab. “The Week in Rap is engaging, will appeal to many students and ultimately increase student achievement. Wisconsin Media Lab is ecstatic about our partnership with Flocabulary.”

We covered Flocabulary in March when it made its educational materials available to any school that signed up for a free trial period. This deal will allow the company to introduce schools across Wisconsin to its content, which may entice more schools to sign up for its complete suite of rap videos on school curriculum.

Details of the deal were not disclosed. According to the company, over 20,000 schools use its educational hip-hop content.
