There’s a major edtech summit at the Four Seasons this weekend

EdSurge will bring the Baltimore Tech for Schools Summit to the Four Seasons on Friday and Saturday.
The latest edition of the edtech gathering will split the two days into a workshop for administrators on Friday and all-day session for educators on Saturday.

“We have over 950 educators registered for Saturday and over 200 administrators for Friday so we’re expecting a great turnout,” said Katrina Stevens, former executive director of EdTech Maryland.
Friday’s keynote will be delivered by Liz Arney, author of the education in technology handbook Go Blended! Throughout the day, edtech companies are slated to demonstrate their work to administrators in order to help them think about better ways of implementing edtech. Local companies participating inlcude Allovue, Common Curriculum, EduCanon and FutureMakers.
A session designed specifically for edtech entrepreneurs and developers runs from 3:30-5:00 p.m. The workshop will feature representatives from three districts sharing what they’re looking for in edtech, and Ed Metz of the U.S. Small Business Innovation Research program will provide details on how to apply.
On Saturday, U.S. Department of Education Director Richard Culatta will address attendees. Teachers will also have a chance to explore an open edtech playground, featuring 37 companies showing off their work including local edtech companies Words and Numbers, Citelighter and Three Ring.
The summit is the first of eight to be held in cities around North America this year.
