The New York Ave.-based American Association for the Advancement of Science may be an international nonprofit, but its new entrepreneurship competition is strictly local.
AAAS recently opened applications for Lab to Launch, “an exciting new entrepreneurship competition that seeks to identify and support the District of Columbia’s promising young science and tech innovators.”
Via an online application and a pitch video, up to 10 entrepreneurs who live, work or study in D.C. will be selected for a final pitch competition in April. There, prizes include $5,000 for first place, $3,000 for second and $2,000 for third. Participants will also receive “training sessions” and “networking opportunities,” according to an announcement. AAAS is really looking to target very new ideas and young startups with this competition — in order to be eligible your startup must be no more than 18 months old.
