1776 partners with Global Entrepreneurship Network, expands Challenge Cup

A new round of ChallengeX competitions will be hosted in 157 different countries.

Global Entrepreneurship Network announced yesterday a partnership to expand the Challenge Cup, a worldwide pitch competition run by 1776.
The competition pitted startups in 16 different cities against each other for a chance to participate in the Global Finals in D.C. A total of $650,000 was awarded in 2014 to winners in four categories — energy and sustainability, education, health and transportation and cities.
Now, a new round of local ChallengeX competitions will be hosted in 157 different countries by Global Entrepreneurship Network partners, for a chance to move on to the regional contests.
“As a global incubator, our top priority is to find the most promising startups and surround them with the connections they need to grow, in whatever city they call home,” said 1776 cofounder Donna Harris in a press release.
The announcement was made at Global Entrepreneurship Congress, which is taking place in Milan from March 16-19.
