Kleer’s mission is to liberate dental care for the provider and the patients. Through its own cloud-based software, Kleer (pronounced clear) allows dental practices to create fully customized care plans that they offer directly to patients as a subscription-style care membership without interference from insurance carriers.
Kleer’s platform empowers practices to build plans that fulfill the needs of the provider and the patients by giving them control of everything from treatment options, protocol and fee schedules.
Kleer entered the market in 2018 and has since grown to work with thousands of dental providers. Based in Wayne, PA, the platform is used by dentists across all 50 states.
So, who’s the team behind this insurance industry-defying tech? Kleer’s environment encapsulates the entrepreneurial spirit of a start-up and the high-growth of a success story. The Kleer team grew from 1 to about 27 in just 3 years, and the company experienced substantial growth in 2022 to 38 employees. Kleer was also recognized as one of the Best Places to Work by the Philadelphia Business Journal in 2020 and 2022.
Kleer’s mission hinges on transparency, and the same ethos drives Kleer’s culture. As part of onboarding, new hires can read the start-up documents that chronicle the origin of CEO Dave Monahan’s vision and the market research that shaped Kleer’s model. The company meets bi-weekly to discuss the product roadmap, ongoing projects, company financial projections and forecasts, so every team member is on the same page. Not only is there transparency from the top-down, but Kleer prides itself on valuing the opinion of all employees.
Kleer’s office operates on a hybrid schedule, and when employees are in the office, expect snacks, games and innovation abound.
"At Kleer, you see the day-to-day impact of your work. The company has a very collaborative culture, and people are invested in their projects. Plus, there’s a high standard for transparency from top to bottom that helps us employees understand the bigger picture of what Kleer is trying to accomplish. Those two elements combined make me feel valued every day."
Brad James Manager, Strategic Partnerships"Kleer is a space where we're always growing and evolving, both as a company and as individuals. We collaborate often, which allows us all to learn new skills, share experiences and constantly improve. Each day brings a new challenge we navigate together."
Brittany Schenkel Support Specialist"Kleer is packed to the brim with talented individuals that work well together. This cohesion has been important to me because it’s made my life easier when it comes to technical projects. Cooperation with others has been pretty much frictionless."
Phil Son Backend Engineer"I have this group of really great leaders to fall back on if I don't know how to do something. I don't have to be afraid that I'm doing anything incorrectly. All I have to do is let them know what I'm struggling with and they're willing to help me."
Fred Morgan Manager of Sales DevelopmentHow do Kleer’s different teams work together?
To keep us on track, our company has different silos, including our tech team that keeps the magic running, our growth department, a marketing team and our network development team. No one is kept in a box, and the leadership team is never far away. Tap them on the shoulder for a friendly chat or with a question about the mechanics of the business.
Our company thrives on cross-collaboration. Curious about how another department does business? We are always looking for people who are ready to learn, and we will prioritize placing you in a role that challenges and fulfills you.
How does Kleer support its team while balancing the company’s growth strategy?
As Kleer grows, we are bringing our team along for the ride. In fact, we wouldn’t be able to grow if it wasn’t for our team. Kleer believes our people are our #1 asset. Professional development opportunities are everywhere at Kleer; we are looking for people who want to stay here and learn skills along the way. That goes both ways. Kleer wants to hire people who will voice the dissenting opinion in the room to ensure our company is moving forward in a thoughtful manner.
To ensure the positive and transparent culture at Kleer remains intact even while the company grows, we brought on Melissa Richardson, the Vice President of Team Success, to ensure Kleer remains a great place to work.
What type of person thrives at Kleer?
We’ll put it simply. If you want to have a voice, if you want to be a thinker, if you want to be encouraged to try and fail, this is the place for you.
