The Department of Defense, also known as the DoD or the Pentagon in colloquial use, is the federal agency responsible for the United States’ national security matters and armed forces branches. It is among the world’s largest employers, if not the largest, and a major source of federal contracts for tech companies. The agency is headquartered at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, near the District of Columbia.
