December is halfway over, but there’s still time to donate to United Way of Delaware’s (UWDE) 3rd Annual Winter Wonderland event, which takes place Saturday at the Wilmington Library. The goal is to provide one winter coat and one toy each to 1,000 school-aged children.

The event will involve more than handing out coats, though: Students in Howard High School’s cosmetology program will provide manicures while BVD Barbershop and Salon will offer haircuts. There’s also face painting and a live performance of holiday classics by Wilmington-based group Best Kept Soul.

In addition, for the first time, every family who registers and attends will be entered into a raffle from Avelo Airlines. The budget airline will be giving away two prize packages, including two round-trip vouchers to anywhere Avelo flies from Wilmington, as well as vouchers for checked bags and onsite parking. Avelo destinations include Myrtle Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Nashville and San Juan.

You can donate to help UWDE meet its goal; $25 equals one new winter coat.
