The Warnock Foundation’s winter 2015 slate of social innovators includes the creator of an urban art park, a former Baltimore Sun reporter and a tech educator.
The list includes 11 individuals as well as Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, a group of students from which won the foundation’s Innovation Challenge in December, with a proposed app to connect the school’s alumni.
Among the innovators are Section1 founder Richard Best, who aims to turn space under the Jones Falls Expressway into the world’s largest urban art park. Krishana Davis, the former Sun reporter, wants to create an interactive hub to help women with their financial skills. Vincent Purcell is using his BOOM! Academy makerspace in McElderry Park to train young designers.
