This federal program has helped 50 small businesses in Delaware go green

Delaware farm and small business owners can apply for the USDA Rural Energy Program, but hurry, as applications close at the end of March. (They’ll open up again in the fall.) Started in 2002, the goal of the program is to help small businesses cover the cost of alternative energy installations, such as solar panels.
The program gives out grants of up to $50,000.

The program is not projected to be affected by the budget cuts made under the Trump administration, said USDA Rural Development Acting State Director Kathy Beisner.
According to a News Journal report, since receiving the first Delaware applications in 2009, the programing has awarded grants to more than 50 Delaware small businesses, including AgroLab, a turnkey lab for farmers in Harrington that was awarded a grant during the 2014 funding cycle.
