Among those taking the mic this Saturday at Philly’s rendition of the Women’s March on Washington is one noted Philly tech community leader.
Tracey Welson-Rossman, who wanted to make it clear that she was there representing herself and not Chariot Solutions or TechGirlz (both tech organizations where she’s a leader), is scheduled to be one of the speakers during the event, which will take over the Benjamin Franklin Parkway as part of a national demonstration happening simultaneously in 150 cities.
“I’m going to be talking about economic empowerment for women,” she said. “One of those ways is working in the tech industry to increase salaries of women through better career opportunities.”
Welson-Rossman said she reached out to organizers through the website and, serendipitously, one of them was a former TechGirlz volunteer among the organizing committee.
“This is about women being aware that opportunities in tech exist,” she said.
