This week in viral Delaware cop videos

First it was the Taylor Swift-singing cop in Dover, shimmying to “Shake It Off” in his patrol car. Then it was two Newark officers (one of them is now running for state senate) giving out free hugs and espousing the hashtag #HugACop.
Now it’s a new day for local viral cop videos, and cops in Newark have struck gold again: The University of Delaware Police have dropped a spoof of Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” called “Copline Bling,” and as of Tuesdsay morning, it’s garnered more than 869,000 views on Facebook (and 18,000 on YouTube).
It’s unclear if they were inspired by the Philly force, which released a similar Drake spoof called “Hotline Savesies,” warning people not to save parking spots on the street during the blizzard.
The UD video is a PSA of sorts reminding students to use the department’s LiveSafe app and to call them if they see something unusual or if they want an safe escort when they’re walking home at night: “Call us on your cellphone / Whenever you need our help / We know when that copline bling!”
The officers didn’t make it monotonous though — be sure to see some moves at and 0:55 and 1:24.
