A Brooklyn business organization is offering a $5,000 prize for a Brooklyn startup working to make cities smarter.
Founders of smart-city startups have until the end of the month to apply for the competition, hosted by the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership.
The partnership is looking for startups that “have a new and original business venture that targets a smart city issue and is able to demonstrate potential for scale and positive impact.”

Previous winners of the Make It In BK pitch competition have gone on to continued success. Some recent winners include Sightworthy, which went on to the Snap Inc. and R/GA venture accelerator, Propel, which raised more than $4 million last summer, and Re-Nuble.
Applications close March 1 and startups will be notified by March 7.
