You may know about the nascent use of virtual reality in healthcare, but did you know that artificial intelligence is already being used in healthcare, too, in areas such as oncology, dermatology and cardiology?
This month’s University of Delaware’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics “Lifelong Lerner” webinar, which is free and open to the community, will tackle AI and Healthcare Outcomes. The webinar will be held live on Thursday, April 15, from noon to 1 p.m., and will be moderated by Professor of MIS and JPMorgan Senior Fellow Xiao Fang of Lerner.
Earlier this year, a team from UD’s Institute of Financial Services Analytics led by Fang and members of the Jefferson Health Data Science group participated in the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Artificial Intelligence (AI) Health Outcomes Challenge to develop AI healthcare solutions. Fang’s team was responsible for designing and implementing the core deep learning algorithms of the proposed solution, and they placed among the top seven in the nation out of 330 teams.
Fang will lead a panel of three Delawareans in the healthcare industry who use AI in their work:
- Terri Lynn Palmer, director of data analytics ITIL managing professional at Delaware Health Information Network
- Parth Patel, research scientist at Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson
- Zugui Zhang, director of biostatistics ChristianaCare Health System
The Lifelong Lerner series will return on May 20 with the topic “Disruptive Technology; What’s Next for the Digital Marketplace.” Details will be announced soon.
