Join the national Restore the Fourth movement and march for privacy on the 4th of July in Philly.
Organized on reddit, Restore the Fourth is a nonpartisan movement demanding the end to PRISM, the federal government surveillance project revealed by whistleblower Edward Snowden earlier this month.
“Fourth” refers to the Fourth Amendment, less the holiday. The group wants to remind citizens of that amendment in full: “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”
The Philly arm of Restore the Fourth will meet in Washington Square Park at noon and march to Thomas Paine Plaza at 1401 John F. Kennedy Blvd, said organizer Gabe Zygmund-Felt.
