This Saturday the Brooklyn Public Library is offering us all a chance to strip off the garments of day-to-day life and take a long bath in ideas.
It’s a 12-hour thinkin’ marathon, the Night of Philosophy and Ideas. From 7 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday, the library will hold numerous talks each half hour on topics like:
- What is the Future of Democracy?
- On Animal Cognition
- Modern Questions, Ancient Answers
This will be the third Night of Philosophy and Ideas in New York, but the first in Brooklyn. Cohosted by the French Embassy in the United States, the event was a big hit in Berlin, Paris and London before crossing over here.
A Simon Critchley lecture at 5am? Yoga at 1am? These are just some of the #NightOfPhilosophy events we have planned: https://t.co/xmjdkHaaVh pic.twitter.com/1buNysezKj

The event is totally free and no RSVP is required. Just show up ready to ponder.
