One of the country’s longest-running innovation festivals will return in spring 2024 with a new organizing partner.

First announced in 2010, Philly Tech Week, which will next run May 3 to 11 in 2024, has always been led by us at Technical.ly, a news organization with a community organizing interest.

As Technical.ly CEO, I’ve increasingly sought to share leadership of Philly Tech Week as the annual tradition has grown. The event series has long included events from dozens of groups focused on entrepreneurship and technology, and we co-produced the 2021 pandemic-timed virtual edition with a longtime collaborator.

Now, I’m proud to announce that the 14th annual Philly Tech Week will be organized as a partnership between Technical.ly and 1Philadelphia, the citywide initiative founded in 2021 to advance a more equitable tech economy.

This partnership was first shared last month with stakeholders and funders during 1Philadelphia’s Innovation Weekend, where the initiative’s executive director, Danae Mobley, announced a goal of raising $20 million.

Technical.ly is further focusing on deeper journalism, economic storytelling, digital client services and connecting our community of entrepreneurs and technologists with programs, resources and jobs. We have one of the largest and most engaged communities of business starters and technology builders in one of the most economically important regions in the world. Our most important role for Philly Tech Week will be extending its reach and organizing a few of the week’s largest events — like our Developers and Builders conferences. 1Philadelphia will provide value by ensuring Philly Tech Week remains one of the world’s most inclusive and accessible celebrations of technology, entrepreneurship and innovation.

Planning for next year’s Philly Tech Week has already begun. Danae and I have already discussed plans for the 15th annual in 2025, and a vision for 2026, when the United States will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the 1776 American Revolution in Philadelphia. We’d love your help to get there.

This year, 1Philadelphia will lead the week’s overall promotion, facilitate the week’s community calendar and host the week’s kickoff, one of the largest outdoor interactive tech events in the country. See youse then.
