Mark Grimes out as CitiStat director

According to the Baltimore Sun, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is replacing Mark Grimes as director of Baltimore City’s data department.
Grimes, who took the helm of CitiStat at the beginning of 2014, resigned after being told by the mayor that he would be replaced, a city spokesman told the Sun’s Doug Donavan and Mark Puente. Rawlings-Blake has yet to name a replacement.

Grimes faced scrutiny after Donovan and Puente reported that the agency did not publish any reports, and cancelled about a third of the meetings that were designed so officials could analyze departmental data and make decisions.
CitiStat was created by Mayor Martin O’Malley so city officials could track the performance of the management of city departments. Grimes isn’t the first director to leave under Rawlings-Blake. In early 2014, Chad Kenney exited in similar fashion.
