Look out, coders, there’s a new civic hacking group on the block!
HackShopDC, which aims to meet monthly, is planning its first meetup for Oct. 29. The group is civic-minded and will look at a different D.C. issue or data set at each meetup. This could be our new jam.

At its first meeting later this month HackShopDC will tackle Vision Zero data. Vision Zero, for those who are unfamiliar, is a D.C. initiative aimed at eliminating transportation-related deaths and serious injuries by 2024.
HackShop will be joined by a representative from the District Department of Transportation to talk through the dataset of citizen-submitted transportation issues. After the talk a mini hackathon will commence — with the goal of creating a visual story based on the data.
