Great Dames will launch its new series “Firestarters: Igniting the Spark Within You” on April 9 with Ashley Blazer Biden, founder of Livelihood, a social venture that designs hoodies to fund grassroots initiatives for social and economic justice, who also happens to be the former vice president’s daughter.

The second and final part of the series will be held on May 7, and will feature five speakers:

  • Tizzy Lockman, Delaware state senatorial candidate (who, full disclosure, also happens to be my sister)
  • Miracle Olatunji, teen social entrepreneur and sometimes Technical.ly Delaware contributor
  • Melissa Govette, women’s advocate at M&T Bank
  • Karin Copeland, arts and business integrator
  • Kathy Palokoff, author of the newly released book, Firestarters: Ignite Your Own Life

The book that inspired the series will be available and Palokoff will offer book-signing opportunities.

Both events will be held at Harry’s Savoy Grill in North Wilmington from 5:30–7:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 for one or $89 for both.
