You know the drill. The flu is serious business right now.
In case you haven’t gotten a flu shot yet, one civic hacker just made it super easy for you to get one. Built by James Bentley, a GIS staffer for the state of New Jersey who recently moved to Philly, this map plots city clinics that offer free flu shots. It even gives you the exact hours and days the clinics are open.
Use the map at ph.ly/flu here.
Bentley used city data that Chief Data Officer Mark Headd had scraped and posted on BuzzData. Building the app took less than an hour, he said. Bentley, 35, lives in Northern Liberties.
And in case you’d rather see instances of flu rather than flu shots, check out Baltimore’s Sickweather, which our sister site Technically Baltimore has been covering. Read about how Sickweather predicted an early flu season six weeks before the CDC here.
