Following the footsteps of several other community foundations across the country, the Delaware Community Foundation has just launched a website dedicated to reporting data on issues that affect the quality of life of residents in the state.
“We are introducing the Delaware Focus website today, which will manage and oversee the trends of 71 different indicators, whether health, education, environment, various other quality-of-life issues throughout the state,” said the foundation’s president and CEO, Fred Sears. “We’ll measure against other cities, communities, states our size as well as see the trends in all those indicators.”
Sears said he believes it’s time for Delaware to “step up” by making this information easily accessible, and mentioned the foundation will begin to pursue community engagement efforts in order to help “better solve some of the major issues in our community.”

The Delaware Focus site employs lots of maps to illustrate the state’s pressing issues. For example, here’s the percentage of children living in poverty in each of the state’s three counties.
Also, good news for local data buffs and civic-minded technologists: You can download the data sets as .CSV files.
