Dig into Baltimore court data at this April 27 hack night

Baltimore city court data was finally released, and a group of civic hackers are set to help unpack it next week.

The Baltimore Legal Hackers Meetup is hosting a hack night on April 27 at the University of Baltimore Law School.

Organizer Jason Tashea said it’s open to everyone, regardless of whether you have a tech or database background.
“We intend to bring together technologists and lawyers to learn about what’s in this newly liberated dataset,” Tashea said via email. “The technologists will help the non-tech people understand SQL databases, and the lawyers can provide context and meaning to the data itself.”
The event’s Meetup page says the data can yield insight into the impact of cash bail, effects of marijuana decriminalization and incarceration rates at the neighborhood level.
